According to the information given by the Uighurs in diaspora, Dr. Halmurat Ghopur who is leading personality in East Turkistan has been arrested on the basis that he
has “nationalist tendencies”. Dr. Ghopur who is the president of Xinjiang Food and Drug Administration’s Department of Inspection and Supervision had been arrested
last year on November for the same reason. Since April of 2017, Uighurs have been subjected to custody or imprisonment in “political re-education” camps, with the claim
that they have extreme and politically incorrect views.
