A Dutch court has ordered oil giant Shell to pay compensation for Nigerian farmers due to environmental oil pollution caused by the company's activities in Niger Delta. The court delivered the final judgment at the end of a long-running civil case opened by some Nigerian farmers. It is believed that leaking in oil pipelines owned by Shell company has been causing environmental damage in the Delta affecting local farmers production.
