Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of the Greek parliament to protest the government due to reform package approved by the parliament which restricts the right to strike. The reform package of about 100 points makes it difficult for syndicates to take strike decisions. The syndicates will now have to get a vote of half of their members in order to be able to make a decision to leave the job. According to the old regulation, approval of 20 percent of the members was sufficient for a strike decision. The law also facilitates the seizure of mortgaged properties and anticipates cuts in payments made to families. Since 2010, there have been 50 general strikes in the country to protest against the requirements of international creditors.
